James H. Dunlap Jr.

James H. Dunlap Jr.

Felton—James H. “Jim” Dunlap, Jr., 87, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Inners Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was the husband of Janet L. (Strayer) Dunlap whom he married in 1958.


Born December 01, 1936 in Laurel, he was one of fourteen children of James H. Dunlap, Sr. and Pauline G. (Brown) Dunlap.


He attended Kennard Dale High School and was later drafted and served in the United States Army. Jim spent 2 years in Germany serving his country with Janet by his side.


He started his career as a carpenter directly after high school with Yorktowne Kitchens and was later employed with Jay Peters, JL Ness Kitchens and Zell Bros. Following his retirement as a carpenter, Jim began delivering auto parts to local garages for NAPA, given his love for being around people and sharing stories, this second career quickly became his favorite job ever.


In addition to his wife, Mr. Dunlap is also survived by two children, Jamie Lynn Enfield and her husband, Jeff and James H. Dunlap III and his wife, Shari; five grandchildren, Matt Allen, Jared Enfield, Zack Dunlap, Jenna Enfield and Maddi Dunlap; one great grandchild, Kyler James Adams and numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.


Jim loved pitching horseshoes, bowling, hunting and especially enjoyed trout fishing. His dough balls are legendary and he was a life member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.


A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, 900 Pleasant Grove Rd, Red Lion. Officiating the service will be his pastor, the Rev. Laura Holtzapple. A visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00AM, Saturday at the church. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements.


In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., FL. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
