James F. Overdorff, Sr.

WINDSOR James F. Overdorff, Sr., 89, of Lower Windsor Twp. died at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, February 6, 2014 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Frances M. (Gruver) Overdorff to whom he was married 55 years at the time of her death on August 1, 1999. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family with his pastor, the Rev. Tab Cosgrove, officiating. Burial will be at Manchester Union Cemetery. Beaver Urich Funeral Home, 305 W. Front St., Lewisberry is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Overdorff was born November 24, 1924, in Windsor. He was the son of the late Charles F. and Carrie V. (Gulden) Overdorff. He served in the US Navy during World War II and was a retired bank officer. His career began in York with Drovers Bank before he relocated to Florida working with Ft. Lauderdale National, First National and Landmark Banks. He retired in 1987 as assistant vice president with Bank of America. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, York and the Dallastown American Legion Post 605. He had formerly been a member of the Hellam VFW Post 7045, Hawks Gunning Club, Viking AA, Victory AA and Keystone V.H.F. Clubs. Mr. Overdorff is survived by his son, James F. Overdorff, Jr., of Windsor and his sister, Phyllis Barnes of Thomasville. He was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
