NORTH BEND - James E. “Jim” Tolomay, 73, died Friday, August 31, 2018 at Bucktail Medical Center, Renovo. He was born in Lock Haven on August 13, 1945 and was the son of the late Constantino and Florence (Tarr) Tolomay. Jim served his county proudly, in 1965 he enlisted in the United States Navy and served as a Corpsman while attached to “B” Company 1st Marine Division during the Vietnam War. Jim was awarded the Purple Heart, Navy Commendation with “V” device, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Service Ribbon with Bronze Star and several others. His service experience prompted him to write a short story “Corpsman Up” with was published in the Marine Corp League Magazine and the book “Doc” On December 9, 1967 Jim married the former Diane M. (Rauch) and the celebrated 50 years of marriage together this past year. Jim was active in the North Bend United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Marine Corp League, Renovo Lodge 495 F. & A.M., American Legion Post 442, Western Clinton County Sportsmen’s Association and Kettle Creek-Tamarack Sportsmen’s Association. Jim was a person of many interests and was loved by everyone that knew him. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, painting very detailed wild animals, making turkey calls, photographing wildlife, going to his camp, watching birds on the back porch, woodworking, tying flies and fly fishing, reloading and just being a handy man in general. Most of all Jim loved spending time with his family. In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law; Stephen J. and Niki Tolomay of Williamsport, Michael J. and Rebekah Tolomay of Mill Hall and Christopher J. and Tanya Tolomay of South Williamsport, six grandchildren; Katelyn, Connor, Sienna, Aiden, Madison and Carson, one brother and sister-in-law; Lawrence and Helen Tolomay of Cary, N.C. and several cousins. A public viewing will be held from 10:00 – 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at North Bend United Methodist Church, 41 Main Street, North Bend followed by the funeral at 12:00 noon with Pastor Robert Pickering officiating. Full military honors will be performed at the church following the service. Burial will take place at a later date at the convenience of the family in North Bend Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth Street, Renovo.
