James E. Overmiller

YORK- James E. Overmiller, 77, died on Monday, September 25, 2023 at UPMC Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Ann B. (Walker) Overmiller to whom he was married to for 58 years. The couple wed on September 12, 1965.

A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at Freysville Zion Community Church, 2595 Freysville Rd., Red Lion with Pastor Joan Maruskin officiating. A visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is in charge of arrangements.

Born on April 23, 1946 in Winterstown, he was a son of the late Morgan and Margarite (Reimold) Overmiller. James was a retired maintenance worker.

Mr. Overmiller was a member of Salem Martinsville Community Church. Over the years he enjoyed singing in and directing the choir at his previous church. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family, especially his great grandchildren.

Along with his wife, Ann, James is survived by two daughters, Stacey Strine and her husband, Michael of York and Melissa Richards and her husband, Nathan of York; five grandchildren, Colt Rauhauser and his wife, Abbey of Dallastown, Destiny Rauhauser of York, Nathan Barshinger and his wife, Ashley of York, Tiffinee Gettle and her husband, Steven of Newmanstown and Chasity Strappelli and her husband, Michael of Red Lion; seven great grandchildren, Levi, Josiah, Brayden, Oliver, Piper, Harper, Raylyn and two on the way, Luke and Kinslee. He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
