NEW OXFORD- James Edward Arnold, 100, was called home by his Lord Jesus on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Brookside at Cross Keys Village. He was the husband of the late Betty E. (Kershner) Arnold. The couple wed on March 8, 1941. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements. Born on June 14, 1921 in West York, he was the son of the late James Monroe Arnold and Jeannette (Enders) Arnold. He was a 1939 graduate of West York High School. James was a baker at J.B. Fishel's Bakery and Jay’s Supermarket. He served our country in the U.S. Army during WWII. James enjoyed being with his family, reading his Bible and listening to hymns and going for long walks, hunting, growing tomatoes and watching baseball. Jim leaves to cherish his memory two granddaughters, Christina M. Arnold of York and Constance L. Hammond and her husband, Timothy of Hanover; two great granddaughters, Sarah L. Hammond and Madeline K. Hammond; and daughter in law, Shirley M. Arnold of Hanover. He was preceded in death by his son, James P. Arnold; and brothers Lawrence M. Arnold, Raymond O. Arnold, Wilford A. Arnold, Paul E. Arnold and sisters Elizabeth G. Arnold and Beatrice G. Boyd. Memorial contributions may be made to Eastside Assembly of God, PO Box 3130, York, PA 17402.
