James D. Howard

ROSSVILLE - James D. Howard, 75, passed away Monday, October 3, 2022. He was the husband of the late Valerie J. (Spangler) Howard.

He was born on December 5, 1946 in Dover, a son of the late Irene (Quickel) and Curvin Howard, Sr. James was a truck driver for various trucking companies in York and also drove school buses. He volunteered with Dover EMS and Fire Company for many years. Jim enjoyed hunting, watching old Westerns, and was a Civil War buff.

Mr. Howard is survived by his son-in-law, John H. Venable, Jr. of Manchester; three grandsons, Sebastian, Logan and Dalton Venable; a step granddaughter, Morgan Venable; two brothers, Curvin "Pete" Howard, Jr. and Ronald L. Howard both of Dover; and four sisters, Joanne Wintermyer, Nancy Murphy, Judy Merkert, and Karen Krout all of Dover. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Ann Venable; a brother, Spurgeon Howard; a sister, Lois Jacobs; and a stepbrother, Jack Stambaugh.
