James Blackwell

James Blackwell, Sr. POTTSVILLE-James Blackwell, Sr., 80, of Pottsville, passed away Sunday at his residence. Born in Frackville on July 3, 1927, he was the son of the late George D. and Mary Parfitt Blackwell. He was a sergeant in the Army having served during World War II. He attended Pottsville schools. He retired in 1989 from the former Allied Signal, Mar-Lin. He was of the Protestant faith. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Catholic War Vets, both of Pottsville. He was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Edwards; his 9 brothers, Daniel, John, Lincoln, Charles, Raymond, William, Paul, Robert and Thomas. James is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sara E. Strasico Blackwell, of Pottsville; his daughter, Deborah Condrack, wife of William, of Freidensburg; his son, James Blacwell, Jr., husband of Katie, of Pottsville; his 4 Grandchildren, Derek Blackwell, Sefton Polak, husband of Jessica, Karli Blackwell and Amanda Smith, wife of Jerry; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday morning at 10:00 A.M. from the Schlitzer-Allen-Pugh Funeral Home, Inc., Pottsville. Friends may call on Wednesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. and also on Thursday morning from 9:00 until time of service at the Funeral Home. Interment will be held in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, Schuylkill Unit, 16 North 4th St., Minersville, PA 17954.
