James A. Spangler, Jr

James “Jimmy” Andrew Spangler, Jr. a long time resident of York County passed away on August 25, 2021 at the age of 60 from an automobile accident. His final days were spent surrounded by family. Jimmy is survived by his dearly loved and only child, Jennifer Lee Smith and her husband, Ryan along with grandchildren, Christopher and Jayla of Spring Grove; as well as his sisters, Deborah L. Spangler of Gettysburg and Kathy Spangler Ferri and her husband, Angelo of New York; his parents, Patsy Rae Stepler and James A. Spangler, Sr. He also leaves behind four sisters, Christine Raffensberger and her husband, Kenneth, Patricia Gulick, Doris Copenhaver, Terri-Lynn Shifflett and one brother, Jamie Spangler, as well as many other family and friends that loved and will miss him. Jimmy was born February 16, 1961 and raised in Dover by his paternal grandparents, Dorothy and George Spangler. He was a skilled carpenter which was shown by his quality workmanship. If it involved a skill with his hands, there was never a job that he would turn down. He had worked for Richard Poole Construction and Yorktown Construction. At one point in his life, he was employed by Wagman Inc as a bridge technician and by the Maryland Pennsylvania Railroad as a trackman. Jimmy’s jobs and adventures took him from coast to coast. He lived in California, Tennessee, Mississippi, Michigan and Florida but he always came back to his roots in York County.
