Jacqueline M. Laird

YORK – Jacqueline M. (Bitts) Laird, 91, passed away Friday, December 22, 2023 at Autumn House East. She was the wife of the late Robert C. Laird, Sr. to whom she was married for over 60 years.

There will be a visitation held from 6-8:00 PM, Wednesday, December 27, 2023 located at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc. in Red Lion. A Graveside Service will take place at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 11:30 AM with Chaplain Don Alspaugh officiating.

Born April 23, 1932 in Lancaster, she was a daughter of the late James E. McClane and Bessie C. (Myers) McClane.

For most of her working life, Mrs. Laird was a Department Supervisor for Doe-Spun Sewing Factory, where she retired from in 1986. After her retirement, she worked for Schaefer’s Wholesale Florist. Outside of work, Jacqueline enjoyed gardening and flowering, spending time at the beach, bird watching, rooting for the Orioles, attending local races and watching NASCAR Races.

Mrs. Laird is survived by two of her children, Robert C. Laird, Jr. and his wife Roxanne and Tina Laird and her significant other Gib Smith; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Daniel McClane and Gerald McClane; and three sisters, Johann Gohn, Helen Weire and Peggy Reever. She is preceded in death by two daughters, Beverly Yerger and Jane Buckingham; a brother, Thomas McClane; and three sisters, Everly Stine, Jill Rial and Sue Yerger.
