Jacqueline M. Brenneman

DOVER – Jacqueline "Jackie" (Zeigler) Shaub Brenneman, 90, completed her earthly life and was called home to The Kingdom of Heaven July 2, 2024 at York South Skilled Nursing. Jackie was born November 21, 1933 in Harrisburg and was the daughter of the late Cecelia Mae (Springer) Zeigler and Clark John "Ziggy" Zeigler.

Jackie was blessed with a long and happy life filled with strong faith and devotion. As an active member of St. David's E.C. Church in Weigelstown for 45 years, she was dedicated to service and fellowship. She was an ardent student in Sunday School, Bible Studies, and Secret Sisters.

As a young wife and mother Jackie was a homemaker, raising her three children; Ranee, Nick, and Eddie until they were school age. As a mother, Jackie played an active role in Brownies, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Boy Scouts with her children. Jackie was employed by three local businesses over the years, McCrory’s Distribution Center, Allis-Chalmers working in the Purchasing Department as secretary and filling in as a switchboard operator, and at York Hospital in the Medical Records Department; retiring from York Hospital in 1998.

Jackie was an excellent seamstress making beautiful clothing for her daughter and for herself. Her hand stitching was very even and precise. Her husband worked for Family Heirloom Weavers as a weaver and wove quilts. Jackie would hand stitch the lengths of woven quilts together. She and her husband went to Wheatland, the museum home of President James Buchanan, where she stitched a woven quilt together. She also enjoyed knitting argyle socks; crocheted the most beautiful baby blankets, baby caps, jackets, and bootie sets. Her crochet stitches were impeccable! Ranee would always ask her mother to crochet a baby set for friends who were having a baby and would tell recipient of the gift “only very special people receive these beautiful baby sets crocheted by my mother”. Jackie enjoyed baking apple pies and sugar cookies for her husband Lou. Jackie was asked by a Palliative CRNP team member, was there something she wished she could do and was unable to do? Her reply was canning red beets and sharing them with her family. Canning red beets was a labor of love project which she enjoyed tremendously every August.

Jackie loved to send thank you notes to family members and those notes will be cherished by the recipients for many years to come. Jackie will be missed tremendously by her family, blended family and friends.

Jackie loved her family and blended family very much. She enjoyed having dinner and spending time with all of them. Momma Bear was a loving Mother, lovely lady, and a Chrisitan with deep faith in the Lord. She survived renal cell cancer since 1988 and breast cancer three times.

Jackie is survived by her husband Llewellyn Brenneman with whom she shared 42 years of marriage.

Jackie’s children surviving her are a daughter, Ranee (Shaub) Miller and husband Delvin of York; two sons, Nolan “Nick” Shaub and wife Michele of Macungie, PA and Edgar “Eddie” Shaub and wife Wendy of Thomasville; grandchildren Warren, Laura, Cassie, and Grace; and great grandchildren Tiberius, Harrison, Paisley, Remi, Denver, and Aspen.

The Brenneman children surviving Jackie are two stepdaughters, Sue (Brenneman) Murphy of Red Lion and Penny (Brenneman) Mills and husband Theron of Dover; and a stepson Gary Brenneman of Hallam. Penny described Jackie as a great person, loving and kind. She was a loving grandma to our children and a great asset to our family. Dad loves her very much.
