Jack Muchler

WILKES-BARRE-Jack Muchler, 82, a resident of Hanover Township went to be with the Lord on June 12, 2008. Born in Plymouth on April 28th, 1926, he was the son of the late Gardner and Mildred (Ertz) Muchler. He graduated from Plymouth High School in 1944 and upon graduation he entered the US Navy and served in World War II. After leaving the service, he was employed as a milkman for the Gorman and Dallas Dairies and also worked at Tri State Industrial Laundry. After retiring, he worked for S &K Vending and until recently delivered for the Medicine Shoppe, Luzerne. He was a member of the Pilgrim Congregational Church, Plymouth, where he served as a deacon and a choir member. Jack had a love of music, he was a member of the Wyoming Valley Barbershop Chorus for 54 years. He was a past president, area counselor and served as secretary for 30 years. Jack was honored as Barbershopper of the Year this past March for the Mid Atlantic District in Newark, NJ. He loved quartet singing and was involved with 5 different quartets, Clef Man, Check Note, Never Home Four, Lookin Good and Too Square. He was married to the former Gertrude Wasley for 57 years. Surviving in addition to his wife, Gert, is his son, Allan Muchler, Warminster, PA, 3 grandchildren, Rachel, Lauren and Brennan, several nieces and nephews. A daughter, Diane Muchler-Small and a sister, Lois Leeds, preceded him in death. Friends and family are invited to attend a viewing on Sunday from 6PM to 9PM. The Wyoming Valley Barbershop Harmony Chorus will sing at 7PM. A viewing will also be held on Monday from 10:00 am till the time the service. Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 11:00AM from Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 465 S. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, with Reverend Edward Gospodinsky officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Plymouth Township.
