Jack D. Wilhide

YORK- Jack D. Wilhide, 79, of West Manchester Township, died Sunday, November 6, 2011 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Sandra (Shultz) Wilhide. The couple celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary on April 2nd. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 18, 2011 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York with a visitation from 1-2 p.m. Full military honors will be provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard at the start of the service. Mr. Wilhide was born in Waynesboro on May 27, 1932, son of the late William M. and Evelyn B. (Calimer) Wilhide. He retired from American Chain and Cable in York. Mr. Wilhide was a member o f West York VFW, Shiloh American Legion, Viking Athletic Club, South End Democratic Club, 9th Ward Political Club, and Prince Athletic Club. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War. Along with his wife, Mr. Wilhide leaves two sons, J.D. Wilhide, II of Madison, WV and Michael K. Wilhide of Milton, VT; a granddaughter, Claire Wilhide of Madison, WV; a brother, David G. Wilhide of Ephrata, and a sister, Roberta J. Lanehart of Green Castle. A brother, William E.
