J. Lynford Heckert

YORK- J. Lynford Heckert, 88, of York Twp., passed away Saturday, February 17, 2007 at his residence. He was the husband of Virginia R. (Weidenbach) Heckert. The couple celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on March 21, 2006. A Celebration of Life Service will be 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York, with a visitation from 1-2 p.m. The Reverend Beth A. Schlegel will be officiating at the service. Military honors will be rendered by York County Veteran's Honor Guard at the start of the service. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Mr. Heckert was born in York on July 5, 1918, a daughter of the late Bertha (Issacs) Heckert. He retired in 1983 from Danskin in York after 50 years of service. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in York for 70 years, and a life member of both: Viking Athletic Club and Yankee Club. He was a US Navy veteran who served as a Pharmacist/Medic aboard the U.S.S. Guam in the South Pacific during WWII. Mr. Heckert leaves a daughter, Cindy D. Renninger of York, two grandchildren: Kimberly Roberts and Jonathan Renninger, and three great grandchildren: Lauren, Allison, and Matthew.
