YORK- J. LaRue “Bud” Harvey, 76, died on Friday, June 17, 2016 at Patterson Grove Campground. He was the husband of Mary K. (Hensel) Harvey. The couple had been married for 58 years. A celebration of life tributes service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion with the Reverend Daniel L. Dennis officiating. A viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service with Masonic rites at 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in Mt. Rose Cemetery. Born on April 3, 1940 in Luzerne County, he was a son of the late Arthur J. and Beatrice I. (Remaly) Harvey. LaRue was a graduate of Susquehannock High School and was a retired custodian from York Suburban School District. Mr. Harvey was a member of Zeredatha Lodge #451 F&AM Masons in York, Harrisburg Consistory Scottish Rite 32nd Degree, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Victory Club and a life member of the 13th Ward. He was also a member and former President of the Trustees of Patterson Grove Camp Meeting Association, Inc. For the last 10 years he served on the Windsor Twp. Planning Commission. LaRue was an avid York County milk bottle collector and enjoyed buying and selling antiques. Mr. Harvey was a loving and caring husband and father and especially grandfather. Everyone could count on Pop and Grandma being at their sporting events cheering them on. Bud loved Patterson Grove in Luzerne County and their cottage there, where he has many dear relatives and friends. Along with his wife, Mary, Mr. Harvey is survived by one son, Mark L. Harvey and his wife, Lizbeth A. of York; four grandchildren, Courtney Jo. Harvey, Benjamin A. Harvey and his wife, Hannah, Karson R. Harvey and Kami E. Harvey; one brother, Dr. A. Neil Harvey of York; daughter in law, Pastor Kathy A. Harvey-Nelson of York; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. He was preceded in death by one son, Rock A. Harvey; and three sisters, Delores Smith, Carol Jean Brown and Nancy A. Ward. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Patterson Grove Camp Meeting Association, Inc., c/o Heritage Cottage Fund, P.O. Box 64, Huntington Mills, PA 18622 or a favorite charity of your choice.
