Winterstown- J. Kay (McGinnis) Herrick, 73, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Hospice & Community Care in Mount Joy. She was the wife of Mike R. Herrick. The couple celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on April 10, 2014. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, July 25 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, with her Pastor, The Reverend Keith J. Schmuck officiating. There will be a viewing Thursday, from 6-8 PM and Friday from 9-10 AM at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Winterstown United Brethren Cemetery. Born September 4, 1940 in Winterstown, Kay was a daughter of the late Russell Royston and Frieda (Curran) McGinnis. Mrs. Herrick was a member of Winterstown United Methodist Church. Kay was a lifelong homemaker that loved caring for her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, “Mimi” and “Grammy”. She was an expert at baking chocolate chip cookies and always thought of others more than herself. She will be deeply missed by her family. In addition to her husband Mike, Mrs. Herrick is survived by two sons, Kirby Herrick of New Jersey and Russell Herrick and his wife Terri of Warren, PA; three granddaughters, Castianne Leicht and her husband Kenneth, Maggie Herrick and Emma Herrick; four brothers, Donald McGinnis and his wife Phyllis of Roundtown, Kenton McGinnis and his wife Elaine of Winterstown, Derrell McGinnis of Winterstown and Dana McGinnis and his wife Pam of Glen Burnie, MD, and a daughter in law, Sharon Herrick of York. Mrs. Herrick was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen Snyder and a brother in law Harold Snyder. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Community Care, 4075 Old Harrisburg Pike, Mount Joy, PA 17552.
