Red Lion — J. Adin Henry, 96, died Friday, January 20, 2012 at York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Romaine E. (Wineka) Henry, who died July 29, 2000. A Celebration of Life Service will be 2 PM, Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Zion United Methodist Church-Freysville, 2595 Freysville Rd, Red Lion, with Pastor Tanya L.H. Brubaker officiating. A viewing will be held from 1-2 PM, Wednesday, at the church. Burial will be held in Heiland View Cemetery. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Palace, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Born September 1, 1915 in Springfield Township, he was a son of late James E. and Margaret H. (Keeney) Henry. He graduated from Red Lion Senior High School in 1933 He was employed with R.S. Noonan, Inc., in York as a Superintendent/Carpenter for 35 plus years and retired in 1978. During his career he had oversight of many York downtown building remodels, including the Bon-Ton, Jack’s Department Store, Bear’s and several banks. A member of Zion United Methodist Church-Freysville, he was awarded honorary membership to the church and Sunday school, as the church’s oldest member and through the years served on various church committees. He was a member of the local Carpenter’s Union 191, enjoyed hunting small game with his brothers, liked to stay active in his vegetable garden and years ago helped on his father’s farm. Mr. Henry is survived by one son, Glenn E. Henry and wife, Marilyn of Red Lion, one daughter, Joyce E. Ilyes and husband, Paul Jr, of Red Lion; five granddaughters, Yvette Engle, Whitney Henry, Nicole Rogers, Cheri Strayer, Tineka Miller; six great grandchildren, Troy Engle, Serwyn Rogers, Cody Strayer and Waverly, Teagan and Dawson Miller; two great-great granddaughters, Molly and Claire Engle and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 6 brothers.
