Ivan H. Meals

YORK- Ivan Harold Meals, 85, of West Manchester Township, passed away Monday, October 8, 2018 at his residence. He was the husband of Darlene (Collins) Meals and the late Betty Jane (Stroman) Meals. Ivan and Darlene had celebrated their 17th anniversary on November 25, 2017. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 12, 2018 at Church of the Open Door, 8 Carlisle Court in York. Viewings will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday and 10-11 a.m. on Friday, both at the church. Pastor Don Heindel will be officiating at the service. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York is in charge of the service. Graveside interment service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 12, 2018 at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, with full military honors by Dallastown American Legion. Mr. Meals was born in Mechanicsburg on August 30, 1933, the son of the late Ira Clyde and Helen Alberta (Whitcomb) Meals. He worked for the former Service America in York for 37 years. He also worked as a part time mail clerk for P.H. Glatfelter and previously for Lau’s Variety Store. Mr. Meals attended Church of the Open Door in York. He was an avid Phillies fan. He was a member of numerous bowling teams and attended classes at Lancaster County Bible College. He served in the US Army in the Korean War. Mr. Meals leaves two daughters, Kimberly Fishel (Fred) and Marci Meals Warner (Eric); two step sons, Matthew Rabine and Christopher Rabine (Jennifer); eight grandchildren, Brandon, Trish, Amber, Aislinn, Dillan, Morgan, A.J., and Ezekiel; five great grandchildren; a brother, Edwin Meals; and four sisters, Betty Duncan, Sue Dunbar, Lois Putt, and Lou Lutz. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Bosserman, a grandson, Hunter Jaras, and a brother, Dale Meals.
