YORK- Israel R. Lustgarden, 96, died on Monday, October 27, 2014 at Rest Haven. He was the husband of the late Helen (Rau) Lustgarden. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is in charge of arrangements. Born on April 14, 1918 in York, he was a son of the late Emmanuel and Annie (Kaplan) Lustgarden. Israel worked in management at Caterpillar, Inc. for many years until his retirement. He was past president of the local #786 United Auto Workers Union. Mr. Lustgarden served our country in the United States Navy. Mr. Lustgarden is survived by one son, Richard L. 'Cha Cha' Lustgarden of York. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Martin Lustgarden and Horace Lustgarden; and one sister, Ada Gross.
