Isabelle R. (Thompson) O'Boyle

AVOCA- Isabelle R. (Thompson) O'Boyle, 93, of Avoca, passed away Thursday morning at Highland Manor, Exeter, where she has been a guest for the last 5 ½ years. Born on April 20, 1917 in Carbondale, she was a daughter of the late William and Catherine Thompson. Isabelle was a long time member of SS. Peter and Paul Church, Avoca. One of Isabelle's greatest passions in life was raising her family with her late husband, William Robert O'Boyle. Isabelle was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was an excellent listener who always gave the best advice and always had a smile for everyone. Isabelle also lived at the Anthracite Apartments, Pittston, where she continued to help others. She was affectionately known as "Izzy" to her family, close friends and the nursing home staff. The family would like to thank all the staff at Highland Manor for the excellent care they provided to Isabelle during her stay. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Robert O'Boyle, who died August 30th 1970; son, John O'Boyle; granddaughter, Susan O'Boyle; brothers, Gerald, Harold and Vincent Thompson; and sister, Mary Cuomo. Leaving behind to cherish her memory are loving sons, William O'Boyle and wife, Ruth, Avoca; Vincent O'Boyle and wife, Linda, Harding; and James "Jim" O'Boyle and wife, Holly, Suscon; a loving daughter, Patricia Haddick and husband, Joseph, Avoca; grandchildren, Daniel, John, Judy Ann, Mark, Vincent Jr., Steven, Luke O'Boyle, Jennifer Garner, Brenda Griego, Lori Ann Giacovelli, Melanie Priebe and Jeffrey Haddick; 14 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held Thursday at 9:00 a.m. from the Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 728 Main Street, Avoca, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in SS. Peter and Paul Church, Avoca. Father Phillip J. Sladicka will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Avoca. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
