Isabelle F. (Keeler) Goettel

Isabelle F. (Keeler) Goettel, 90, of Williamsport, formerly of Elmira Street, died on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at the Williamsport Home. Isabelle was born on June 28, 1920 in Nordmont and was the daughter of the late Edward E. and Mary F. (Huffnagle) Keeler. She had been a lifetime resident of Williamsport. She was a graduate of Williamsport High School, class of 1939. Isabelle was employed by LL Sterns prior to her marriage on June 28, 1942 to the late Carl Goettel. After she was married, she became a dedicated homemaker. The couple was married for 32 years before his death in 1974. She was a member of the former St. Johns UCC, where she had taught Sunday School for 15 years and was a member of the Kuhns Circle. After the church merged and became New Covenant United Church of Christ, she was very active there and was a member of the Congregational Concerns Committee. She was also a member of the Williamsport YWCA and Ramblers Club. Isabelle is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; Carl and Mary Ann Goettel, Jr. of Montoursville and Larry L. and Joyce Goettel of East Falmouth, Mass., one step son; John C. Goettel and his wife Mary Ellen of Danielson, CT, one step daughter; Shirley Hill and her husband Bill of South Williamsport, one grandson; Christopher Goettel of East Falmouth, Mass. and two sisters; Esther Louis Crissman of Montoursville and Joan M. Keeler of Williamsport. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers; Harold and Charles Keeler. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 30, 2010 at the New Covenant United Church of Christ, 202 East Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701 with the memorial service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Clara Benson will officiate the services. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Congregational Concerns Committee, C/O New Covenant United Church of Christ. Arrangements are being handled by the Allen & Redmond Funeral Home, 331 Elmira St., Williamsport.
