MILL HALL - Irvin K. “Irv” Wetzel, 70, died Wednesday, August 06, 2014 at his home. He was born in Jacksonville, PA on January 30, 1944 and was the son of the late William and Isabelle M. (Spiker) Wetzel. On August 23, 1963 Irv married the former Mary L. (Kramer) and they would have celebrated 51 years of marriage together this year. Irv worked for H.R.I. of State College as a heavy equipment operator for 37 years and retired in January of 2012. He also did farming work for many years. He loved tractors, working with his new backhoe, having cookouts, attending farm auctions and most of all spending time with his family. In addition to his wife Mary, Irv is survived by one son and daughter-in-law; Scot and Kim Wetzel of Mill Hall, two daughters and sons-in-law; Amy J. and Craig Yarnell of Lock Haven and Nicole and Glenn Neff of Mill Hall, five grandchildren; Kevie L. Connelley, II, Glenn M. Neff, Jr., Bradley T. Rupert, Megan L. Rupert and Morgan A. Wetzel, one great grandchild; Cameron R. M. Neff, four brothers and sisters-in-law; Rueben and Marge Wetzel of Loganton, Donald and Artis Wetzel of Lamar, Kenneth and Kathy Wetzel of Erie and Boyd and Sharon Wetzel of Mill Hall, four sisters and three brothers-in-law; Alice and Floyd Imes of Lewistown, Gloria Harshberger of Lewistown, Violet and Dave Sample McNeel of Snow Shoe and Joyce and James Tule of Lock Haven and one step brother; Wes Kyler of Penns Valley. In addition to his parents, Irv was preceded in death by two brothers; Louis Wetzel and Melvin Wetzel. Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Research Center; Geisinger Medical Center, 100 N. Academy Ave., Danville, PA 17822. A public viewing will be held 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 08, 2014 at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall, PA 17751 and again from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 09, 2014 at the funeral home followed by the funeral service at 11:00 with Pastor Greg Shipe officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
