YORK- Irvin E. Kerstetter, 90, passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at Providence Place. He was a devoted husband to Gladys J. (Ferrence) Kerstetter, who passed away on January 14, 2005. The couple had been married for 62 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with Certified Celebrant Betty Frey officiating. A viewing will be from 9-10 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Mt. Rose Cemetery with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born on December 15, 1921 in Franklin Township, Snyder County, PA, he was a son of the late Cloyd and Elsie (Gill) Kerstetter. Irvin worked for Food Fair/Pantry Pride for 39 years and retired from York Casket Co. after 10 years. Mr. Kerstetter was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in York. He served our country for three years in the U.S. Army during WWII. Irvin enjoyed hunting and fishing trips to his cabin in Snyder County and baking and cooking for his family. Mr. Kerstetter is survived by one son, Larry E. Kerstetter and his wife, Linda of York; one daughter, Linda J. McCoy and her husband, Terry of Dover; five grandchildren, Kimberly Wendowski, Tammy McArdle, Michael McCoy, Michelle Mallory and Kyle Kerstetter; 13 great grandchildren, Michael, Brandon and Jeremy McCoy, Shana, Crystal and Ryan Mallory, P.J., Meghan and Kaitlin McArdle, Rebecca and Christopher Wendowski and Tyler and Kevin Kerstetter; four great great grandchildren, Colin, Dillon, Jayce and Emma; one brother, Robert Kerstetter and his wife, Lorraine of Mesa, AZ; one brother in law, George Montgomery of York; and a sister in law, Lois Ferrence of Gettysburg. He was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.
