YORK – Ira M. Reiber, Jr., 89, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Manor Care South. He was the husband of the late Nadine B. (Reindollar) Reiber. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, March 30, 2015 at Faith United Church of Christ, 509 Pacific Avenue, York with his pastor, The Rev. Dr. Ron Oelrich officiating. A viewing will be held from 10-11:00 AM Monday at the Church. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery with full military rites provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements. Born November 20, 1925 in York a son of the late Elizabeth N. (Zeigler) and Ira M. Reiber, Sr., he was a graduate of William Penn Senior High School. Mr. Reiber retired from Met-Ed after 35 years of service. Along with his brother, he founded Emanuel’s Italian Ice in York. Ira was a life member of the York Fair and member of West York VFW, York County Heritage Trust, and China-Burma-India Veterans Assoc. He was a member of Faith UCC and the former Bethany UCC. Mr. Reiber was an avid skier and former member of York Ski Club and enjoyed golfing. He was also a Civil War buff. Mr. Reiber was a US Army Air Corp Veteran of WWII. Mr. Reiber is survived by two daughters, Donna J. and husband Joe Crabb of York and Diane K. and husband Gary Miller of Abbottstown; a grandson, Garrett I. Miller; a soon to be great grandson, Nickolas A. Miller; one brother, Edwin Reiber of Columbus, OH; and nieces and nephews.
