Ira Leroy Wagner, Jr.

NORTH YORK - Ira Leroy Wagner, Jr., 73, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at York Hospital. He was the companion of Linda R. McNeil. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, July 25, 2008 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York with Rev. Donald R. Belch officiating. Viewings will be held from 7-9:00 PM Thursday and 9-10:00 AM Friday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Born January 15, 1935 in York a son of the late Ira L. and Rose (Wolfgang) Wagner, he retired from Allis Chalmers after many years of service. Mr. Wagner was a dedicated volunteer firefighter and fire policeman serving with Lincolnway, West York, North York, and the former Royal Fire Companies; and York County, North York, West York, and PA State Fire Police. He was also a member of North York Borough Council, Royal BD Club, and Viking Athletic Association. Mr. Wagner was a US Army veteran having served during peacetime. In addition to his companion, Mr. Wagner is survived by two daughters, Cindy Wagner Dell and husband Marlin of West York and Margaret Wagner of York; a son, Andrew L. Wagner of York; a grandson, Anthony and wife Tiffany Lewis; and two additional grandchildren; a sister, Elaine Seltzer of Chambersburg; and an ex-wife, Katheryn Wagner of York. Mr. Wagner is also survived by his companion, Linda's children and grandchildren, who Mr. Wagner treated as his own; a daughter, Kristina and husband Dyrle Leppo of Mt. Wolf; granddaughter, Tina M. Innerest of Dallastown; great grandchildren, Sequoia and Lakota Barker; a daughter in law, Reba Reachard and her children, Rachel, Renee, and Stephen Reachard, Jr. He was preceded in death by Linda's son, Stephen Reachard.
