Ilgar Akhverdievich Mamedov

Ilgar A. Mamedov, 56, passed away Monday, June 4, 2018 at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill. He was the husband of Billie Jo (Fisher) Mamedov to whom he married on December 19, 2017 and has shared the past 15 years. A celebration of his life will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, June 8, 2018 at Beaver Urich Funeral Home, Inc., 305 West Front Street, Lewisberry. A visitation will be held from 9-10:00 AM Friday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be private. Born December 17, 1961 in Baku City, Azerbaijan, a son of the late Ahverdi Mamedov and Dilayra Mamedova, he was an honors student in high school and college in Azerbaijan. He graduated from medical school in Baku City in 1984 with a degree in Psychiatry. He also studied Narcology and counseled drug and alcohol addiction. He and his former wife moved from Baku City to Moscow for six years where he was a top Psychiatrist. While living in Azerbaijan and Russia he earned numerous awards for his German Shepherd pedigree competitions. His top shepherd “Lady” won various gold medals. In 1996, Mr. Mamedova immigrated to the United States along with his former wife and his daughter, Delyara. Ilgar then graduated from HACC with his LPN and most recently his RN degree. He was a nurse at both Messiah Lifeways and Country Meadows, Mechanicsburg. Ilgar was also affectionately known as “Tappy”, to close family and friends. His daughter, Delyara, describes Mr. Mamedov as a wonderful father. He will be remembered as a very wise, intelligent, kind, generous, and hardworking man who enjoyed working in the field of psychiatry and general health care. He had a wonderful sense of humor and always loved to laugh. Mr. Mamedov was a humanitarian who embraced and loved diversity and held strong beliefs about equality for all. Mr. Mamedov attended York Springs Seventh-day Adventist Church. He enjoyed gardening and farming, reading, watching Western movies, reading anything medical related, Astrology and Greek mythology. In addition to his wife, Mr. Mamedov is survived by a daughter, Delyara Mamedova of Mechanicsburg; a stepdaughter, Nicole and husband Corbin Mann of Hixson, TN; a stepson, Shawn Sanersri of Mechanicsburg; and his sister, Esmira Gadjieva and other family members of Baku City, Azerbaijan.
