Ida G. (Vance) Hoover

York—Ida G. (Vance) Hoover, 84, died Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at Pleasant Acres Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Charles E. Hoover. A funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m., Friday, October 10, 2008 at Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc, 1551 Kenneth Rd, York, with the Rev. Sue Oelrich, chaplain at Pleasant Acres Nursing Home and Pastor David Hildebrand of Bridge Builders, officiating. A viewing will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Mt. Rose Cemetery. Mrs. Hoover was born May 31, 1924 in Brownsville, a daughter of the late Charles L. and Alice B. (Baughman) Vance. She was employed with McCrory's Distribution Center in the cafeteria for several years. Previously she worked as a secretary at the State Capital. A member of York Alliance Church in York, she also was a Girl Scout leader of Troop 22 and loved reading and traveling. Mrs. Hoover is survived by two daughters, Kimberly Smith and husband Kenneth of Mt. Wolf and Ris韃hambers of York, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a nephew. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Charlain Hoffheins and two brothers, Charles and Nelson Vance.
