Ida Elizabeth (Shaw) Russell

ETTERS- Ida Elizabeth (Shaw) Russell, 85, died Thursday, October 08, 2009 at Memorial Hospital. She was the loving wife of Harold M. Russell, who passed away on November 22, 2000. The couple married in 1943. A Celebration of Life Service will be 2 p.m. on Monday, October 12, 2009 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl. Red Lion, with the Reverend Thomas D. Bellis officiating. A visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Russell was born on February 22, 1924 in Lower Chanceford, a daughter of the late James McGee and Elsie Mae Shaw. Ida worked as a seamstress for Farm Grove Sewing Factory for six years and then at D & D Sewing for 33 years until her retirement. Mrs. Russell enjoyed quilting, reading, sightseeing, collecting redbirds and hummingbirds memorabilia, yard saleing, find-a-word books, and flower and vegetable gardening. She also loved her cats. Mrs. Russell is survived by one son, Kenneth Harold Russell of New Cumberland; two daughters, Betty Russell Saltzer and her husband John of New Cumberland and Theresa Marie Forness and her husband James of York; four grandchildren, LoriAnn Saltzer, Matthew Saltzer, Vicky Russell, and Elwood Heller III; six great-grandchildren, Aimee Book, Carrie Book, Elizabeth Russell, Chelsey Elizabeth Heller, Madalyn Saltzer, and Max Saltzer. Along with her husband, preceding her in death was a sister, Daisey Shaw.
