POTTSVILLE - Howard (Ted) Eifert, 64 passed over into the arms of his Savior on May 28, 2011, in the presence of those who love him for his many years of kindness and his desire to leave this world a better and more beautiful place. Born in Pottsville the fourth child of Chester and Catherine (Singley) Eifert, he grew up in the rural area just outside Cressona. As a child and young man he helped his father grow and sell strawberries and asparagus to many faithful customers throughout Southern Schuylkill County. He graduated from Blue Mountain High School in 1965 and worked at Zulick's shoe factory, Liberty oil and Kiel's Landscaping while serving six years in the US Army Reserve. In 1976 he started Eifert's Landscaping which his son Joshua took over as his father's health declined. For ten years he owned and operated the West Haven creamery in Cressona. Ted was active in the Grace Evangelical Free Church of Cressona where he also kept the parking lot free of snow for many years. Ted also loved to travel and visited many of the nations National and State Parks. On June 6, 1970 he married Glennis (Evely) who has been his soul-mate, best friend and partner for 46 years. Ted was known for his love of his family including one daughter, Heather E'owyn, wife of Matthew Gruber, Auburn, one son Joshua David, husband of Tiffiny Brower, Pottsville, and grand children, Madalyn Eve, Sara E'owyn, Megan Lyn, and Benjamin Matthew Gruber, all of Auburn. Also surviving are: a brother, James and his wife Betty Eifert, Schuylkill Haven; two sisters, Jacqueline Kokitus, Landingville and Sylvia and her husband Richard Dodge, Linglestown; and nieces and nephews. A Memorial service will be held at Grace Evangelical Free Church, 101 Graeff Street in Cressona at 2:00 PM on Sunday June 5th. We ask you refrain from wearing perfumes to the service due to allergies. The Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, Inc., 6th & W. Market St., Pottsville is handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions can be made in Ted’s name to the Grace Evangelical Free Church, 101 Graeff St., Cressona, PA 17929.
