YORK – Howard K. Rugh, 91, passed away Friday, August 31, 2012 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home. He was the husband of Caroline A. (Kauffman) Rugh to whom he was married for 29 years on May 21, 2012. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York with his visitation pastor, The Rev. Roland Garvin officiating. A viewing will be held from 1-2:00 PM Tuesday at the Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery with full military rites provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born September 12, 1920 in Vineland, NJ, a son of the late James G. and Mary E. (Gilbert) Rugh, he was a retired electrician from Standard Register after more than 30 years of service. Mr. Rugh was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, West Manchester VFW Post 7374, and former member of both Pleasureville American Legion and Vigilant Social Club. He enjoyed tending to his flower and vegetable gardens. Mr. Rugh was a US Navy veteran of WWII. In addition to his wife, Mr. Rugh is survived by two sons, Keith E. Rugh and Bradley S. Rugh both of York; two daughters, Debra Zuck of Coatsville, PA and Sharon Taylor of Orlando, FL; three stepsons, John and Jack Smith both of York and Craig Smith of Manchester; three stepdaughters, Karen Kitts of York, Brenda Reheard of Red Lion, and Cindy Joseph of Wellsville; five grandchildren; 12 step grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren and step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, James G. Rugh and a sister, Rachel Cobb. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Assoc., 3544 N.
