Howard H. Minnich, Jr.

RED LION – Howard H. Minnich, Jr., 85, passed away Monday, October 14, 2013 at his home following a brief illness. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Miller) Minnich to whom he was married for 65 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, October 18, 2013 at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 161 N. Main Street, Red Lion with his pastor, The Rev. David D. Tietje officiating. Private burial will be in Red Lion Cemetery. Born July 12, 1928 in Red Lion a son of the late Howard H. and Nettie Ruth (Smith) Minnich, he was a 1946 graduate of Red Lion Area High School. Howard owned and operated his own electrical contracting business for more than 50 years. He had earned his Eagle Scout Award from Boy Scouts of America, served on Red Lion School Board and Red Lion Cemetery Association, was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed traveling and woodworking. Mr. Minnich was a life member at St. John’s UCC where also served on Consistory and many committees; and a life member of Leo Fire Company. He belonged to the Free and Accepted Masons, Blue Lodge; Central PA Independent Electrical Contractors, and the NRA. In addition to his wife, Mr. Minnich is survived by a daughter, Kathleen M. and husband Thomas Corl of Salisbury Mills, NY; a grandson, Dr. Keith and wife Alexandra Corl and their daughter, Scarlett Corl; and a granddaughter, Christine Corl; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Keith H. Minnich; two sisters, Melba Saylor and Nora Carpenter; and a brother, Kermit Minnich. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Howard may be made to St. John’s UCC, 161 N. Main St., Red Lion, PA 17356 or to AseraCare Hospice, 44 Bowman Rd., York, PA 17408. He was a devoted husband, father, and “Larger than Life” Grandpa.
