Horace E. Gibson

RED LION- Horace E. Gibson, 82, died on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Nancy L. (Wallick) Gibson. The couple recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on August 25th. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Emmanuel U.C.C., 1625 Windsor Rd., with his pastor, the Reverend Ronald E. Heagy officiating. A viewing will be from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born on March 30, 1933 in York, he was the son of the late Clarence E. Gibson and Madelene L. Stein and the stepson of the late Charles Butcher. Horace was a sales estimator for Voith Hydro, Inc. for over 40 years until his retirement in 1995. Mr. Gibson was a member of Emmanuel U.C.C. He served our country for two years in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Gibson was an avid card player, enjoyed putting puzzles together and playing games with his family. He also enjoyed volunteering at the soup kitchen and with meals on wheels. Most importantly, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Along with his wife, Nancy, Horace is survived by three sons, Scott E. Gibson and his wife, Mandy of Red Lion, Douglas E. Gibson and his wife, Danelle of York and Mark A. Gibson and his wife, Sandy of Red Lion; five grandchildren, Daniel A. Gibson and his wife, Nicole, Matthew T. Gibson, Kelsey L. Gibson, Aaron D. Gibson and Korin L. Gibson; one half brother, David Butcher of Seven Valleys; one step brother, Morgan Butcher and his companion, Judy of Indialantic, FL; and one step sister, Ann Heisler and her husband, Charles of Red Lion. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lynne Ann Gibson.
