MANHATTAN, KS - Hilda R. [Mundis] Flinchbaugh, 86, formerly of Felton, passed away Monday, May 5, 2008 at Memorial Hospital, Abilene, Kansas. Mrs. Flinchbaugh was married on April 26, 1941 to James Clair Flinchbaugh. He preceded her in death in 1995. A graveside tribute service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will gather at 1:45 PM Wednesday at the entrance of the cemetery. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. She was born July 8, 1921 in York County, the daughter of the late Virden H. and L. Jeannette Hoffacker Mundis. She was a 1939 graduate of Red Lion High School. For many years, she was a farmwife in Felton and moved to Manhattan in 1996 to be with her son after her husband's death. She was an avid Penn State and Kansas State football fan and knitted more than 100 blue (Penn State) and purple (K-State) afghans of which many were auctioned off for various charities. Survivors include a son, Dr. Barry Flinchbaugh and his wife, Cathy of Manhattan; three grandchildren: Dr. James T. Flinchbaugh and wife Jaimee of Choctaw, OK, Jennifer L. Beidel, Esq. and her husband, Curt of Newburg, PA, and Catherine J. Flinchbaugh, Esq. of South Royalton, VT. She was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey L. Flinchbaugh; and a grandson, David L. Flinchbaugh. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to York County Community Foundation, c/o 4-H Center, 14 W. Market St., York, PA 17401, www.yccf.org
