Hilda Hartman

LANCASTER- Hilda "Betty" E. (Barnhart) Hartman, 86, died Monday, March 29, 2010 at Rheems Nursing Center, Inc. She was the loving wife of the late Harold E. Hartman who passed away on December 5, 2007. The couple had been married for over 60 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 2, 2010 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 1551 Kenneth Rd., York. A viewing will be from 10-11 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, 250 Chestnut Hill Rd., York immediately following the service. Mrs. Hartman was born in Chambersburg on December 9, 1923, a daughter of the late William C. and Rose B. (Shuman) Barnhart. After spending most of their lives in Red Lion, York County, Mr. & Mrs. Hartman lived in Leesburg, FL for 10 years, before moving to Lancaster, PA. Mrs. Hartman worked as an Executive Secretary for the former McCrory's Distribution Center in York where she retired. Upon retiring, she enjoyed quilting and crocheting. Betty especially enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Betty is survived by three daughters, Ann M. Grove and her husband, R. Thomas of Spring Grove, Amy R. Freeman and her husband, Alan of Leesburg, FL, and Holly A. Hartman and her husband, Stephen Pollock of Lancaster; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. A son, Timothy D. Hartman; six brothers, Christie, Blaine, Chester, Clifford, Harry, and Woody Barnhart; and a sister, Atha Miller, preceded her in death.
