Herman "Gene" Sawyer

FAIRVIEW TOWNSHIP- Herman Eugene Sawyer, Gene to his friends, 75, with his family by his side, passed unto his heavenly home after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on Dec 20, 2016. Gene was born March 10, 1941 in Portsmouth, VA, to Herman G. Sawyer and Mary "Nerie" (Archer) Sawyer. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Theresa "Terry" (Nissel) Sawyer; his mother, Nerie; a brother, Earl "Cry" Sawyer and his spouse, Edith; a sister, Joan Hodges and her spouse, Malcom; 3 daughters, Sandy Jackson and her spouse, Ray, Stephanie Sawyer and Shannon Sawyer; five grandchildren, Tracy and her spouse, Jay, Steven and his fiancée, Dakotah, Randi and her spouse, Donovan, Tyler, and KJ; three great Grandchildren, Nya, Elijah, and Baby Jay; several aunts and uncles; many nieces and nephews and countless others. He was preceded in death by his father, Herman, a brother, Stanley, a sister, Peggy, and a great grandson, Damian. As per Gene's request there will be no viewing. A graveside service will be held at Tri-County Memorial Gardens at 740 Wyndamere Rd, Lewisberry, PA at 2:00 PM on Friday, Dec. 23, 2016 In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial donations to be made to Penn State, Hershey Medical Center, in Hershey, PA Arrangements are with Beaver Urich Funeral Home 305 West Front Street in Lewisberry.
