Herman D. Shenk

YORK- Herman D. Shenk, 93, of Springettsbury Township, passed away peacefully at his residence. He was the husband of the late Evelyn G. (Billet) Shenk, who passed away July 31, 2008. The couple celebrated 61 years of marriage. A Graveside Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Mount Rose Cemetery in York. Pastor Donald G. Hubbell will be officiating at the service. York County Veteran’s Honor Guard will be providing full military honors at the start of the service. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Shenk was born in York on June 8, 1919, the son of John J. and Florence R. (Chronister) Shenk. He retired after 35 years of service from Sleepwear, Inc. in York. He was a 50 year member of Fourth United Methodist Church in York, a member of the Elks Club, Victory Athletic Club, 14th Ward Political Club, and the American Legion. He was a graduate of William Penn Senior High. Mr. Shenk leaves a son, Bradley L. Shenk and his wife Debra of York. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Shenk.
