TROY- Herbert Heaton, 92, of Troy, PA, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2013 at the Sherwood Personal Care Home in Canton, PA with his loving wife Enid by his side. He married Enid (Hunter) Heaton on September 27, 1947 and the couple had 65 happy years together. Herbert was born on March 25, 1921 in Keighley, England, son of the late Joseph and Maria (Stell) Heaton. Herbert and his family immigrated to the United States in May of 1967 where they first lived in Bronx, New York, then Howell, NJ following his job with Rotorclip, Inc. where he was a tool and die maker. In 1978 Herbert bought land in Smithfield Township and began the process of building a home and moving his family to Bradford County. Later, he and Enid moved to Troy, and then to Sherwood Personal Care Home. In the late 1980’s Herbert and Enid began studying the Bible and decided to be baptized as Jehovah’s Witnesses in June of 1990. He and Enid enjoyed many activities with the congregation. Herbert is survived by his wife Enid, his sons; John and Paul Heaton and their families, his daughters; Sheila Foster and Janice Johnson and their families, along with his extended family and good friends. His parents preceded Herbert in death. The memorial talk to honor Herbert’s life will be given at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses’ located at 422 Old Mills Road, Towanda, PA 18848, on Saturday, August 31, 2013, at 2:00 pm. The Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 1093 West Main Street Troy, PA has been entrusted with the arrangements.
