Herbert F. Smith

DOVER – Herbert F. Smith, 91, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at his residence. He was the husband of the late Betty A. Smith and Jean E. Smith.

Born November 20, 1931, he was a son of the late Bernard C. and Mildred Mae (Claymon) Smith.

Mr. Smith served in the US Navy during the Korean War, ending his service with a National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. Later in life, he began his employment with P.H. Glatfelter where he worked for 22 years, later retiring in 1995.

Herbert is survived by his two children, Randy L. Smith and his wife, Theresa L. Smith of Spring Grove, Brenda I. Myers and her husband George E. Myers, Jr. of East Berlin; six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Sarah Nicholas. He is preceded in death by two grandchildren, Joshua Myers and Jennifer L. Smith; three brothers, Bernard Smith, Jr., two twin brothers, and two sisters, Deloras Rudisill and Lorainne Lefever.

All services will be private at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, is in charge of arrangements.
