RENOVO - Henry P. “Nitty” Serafini, 100 died Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Bucktail Medical Center, South Renovo. He was born on September 08, 1913 in Renovo and was the son of the late Dominic and Josephine A. (Malone) Serafini. On September 05, 1936 Henry married the former Frances D. DeMarte and they celebrated 64 years of marriage together until her death on February 28, 2001. Henry worked as a self employed barber in his younger days, then for the Pennsylvania Railroad for ten years, Leidy Gas Company for 12 years and then retired from the Pennsylvania State Road Department in 1981 after 25 years. Henry was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Renovo and a lifetime member of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania Order Sons of Italy of Renovo. He enjoyed fly and ice fishing, hunting, growing flowers and spending time with his dog “Snuffy”. He is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law; Christine M. and Joseph Bickel of Paoli and JoAnne Welton of Renovo, four grandchildren; Richard Welton of Renovo, Robert Welton and wife Zeny of Granite City, IL, Wayne Welton of Renovo and Kim Welton of Jersey Shore, one great grandson; Wayne Jr. of San Diego, CA, one brother; Francis Serafini of San Antonio, TX and one sister; Edith Fantaskey of Renovo. In addition to his parents and wife Henry was preceded in death by two brothers; Ernie and Louis and one sister; Mary Leone. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Clinton County SPCA, 33 Mill Hall Road, Lock Haven, PA 17745. A public viewing will be held 9:00 – 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 02, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 925 Huron Ave., Renovo, followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10:00a.m. with the Reverend Charles Ugo officiating. Burial will take place privately at the convenience of the family in St. Joseph’s Cemetery , Hyner Arrangements are being handled by Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth Street, Renovo, PA 17764.
