Henry E. Tyson

FELTON – Henry E. Tyson, 83, passed peacefully into the hands of his Lord and Savior with his wife and children at his bed side Monday, November 28, 2022 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Janet L. (Boyd) Tyson with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage on July 28th.


A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Bethel United Methodist Church, 1674 Furnace Road, Brogue with Pastor Beth R. Holz officiating. Viewings will be held from 7-9:00 PM Friday at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with Masonic Rites provided by F&AM Lodge at 8:45 PM. There will also be a viewing from 12:30-2:00 PM Saturday at the Church. Burial will be in Bethel U.M. Cemetery.


Born April 3, 1939 in Windsor Twp., a son of the late John I. and Elva M. (Runkle) Tyson, he attended Tyson’s One Room School House on Felton Rd. and then Red Lion Area High School. Mr. Tyson was a lifelong farmer, truck driver, and served 10 years as Tax Collector for Chanceford Twp., as well as, serving 6 years as a Chanceford Twp. Supervisor. Henry was a member of Free & Accepted Masons Friendship Lodge 663, had served on the Farm Service Agency for numerous years and was on the York Co. Committee for 9 years, was a member and former President of York Co. Potato Growers Assoc., and had served on Red Lion Area School District School Board for 10 years. He was an active member of Bethel U.M. Church and served on various committees. Henry loved traveling with his wife as they visited 49 of 50 US States and took many cruises. He particularly enjoyed the annual family vacation to Cook’s Forest that they were able to organize for more than 12 years.


In addition to his wife, Mr. Tyson is survived by two daughters, Karen and husband Eric Immel of Red Lion and Nancy and husband Howard Clever of Windsor; and a son, John T. and wife Jennifer Tyson of Mifflintown, PA; six grandsons, Justin and Kyle Immel, John William Tyson, Zane Clever, Benjamin and Nathaniel Tyson; two great grandsons, Jacob and Connor Immel; and a brother, John N. Tyson of Clearfield County. Mr. Tyson was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Tyson; and three brothers, Paul, Clayton, and Willis Tyson.
