Henry Allan Putkisto

SHREWSBURY, PA – Henry Allan Putkisto, 87, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2022. He was the husband of Jean (Krollfeifer) Putkisto with whom he would have celebrated 51 years of marriage on May 27th. Henry “Hank” was born December 20, 1934 in Worcester, Mass., a son of the late Konsta and Maria (Taipale) Putkisto; he was a 1953 graduate of Rutland High School, Rutland, Mass. And a 1959 graduate of Norwich University where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Engineering Management. Mr. Putkisto retired after 42 years of service as a Sr. Equipment Engineer from Lucent Technologies and its predecessors AT&T and Western Electric. He was a life member and Past Exalted Ruler of Somerville Elks Lodge 1068, Somerville, NJ. In his younger years, Mr. Putkisto was a youth baseball coach and refereed youth soccer. Later in life he discovered the art of making stained glass. He enjoyed watching sports, following politics, and was always on top of the news. In addition to his wife, Mr. Putkisto had five children, Charles Putkisto of New Jersey, the late James Putkisto of Pennsylvania, Lori Putkisto-Walsh and her late husband John of New Jersey, Jeffrey and wife Katie Putkisto of Maryland, Stacie and husband Steve Keyser of Pennsylvania; a stepson, Scott Niskach of Utah; six grandchildren, Michael and Allison, Zach and Kate, CJ and Alexis; and three siblings, Ellen Maynard and her late husband Everett of Massachusetts, Helen and husband Earl Smiddy of Delaware, and the late Kalevi Kantola of Massachusetts; and many nieces and nephews. Tribute services will be private with burial in Rural Cemetery of Rutland in Massachusetts. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, PA is in charge of arrangements.
