Henrietta E. (Cook) Sklar

WILLIAMSPORT - Henrietta E. (Cook) Sklar, 93, died Friday, March 23, 2007 at home. She was the widow of Ben H. Sklar. Mrs. Sklar was born July 21, 1913 in Philadelphia, a daughter of the late Thomas and Esther (Noll) Cook. She attended the University of Michigan, graduating with a BA in 1933 in Mathematics and a MA in 1934 in Mathematics and Actuarial Science. She moved from Ann Arbor, Michigan to Williamsport in 1987. Mrs. Sklar was a member of the Women's American ORT, Hadassah and a volunteer reader for the North Central Sight Services, Inc. Mrs. Sklar is survived by two daughters, Judith and her husband, Stanley Kaplan of Williamsport and Elaine and her husband, Steven Gold of Decatur, GA; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a nephew, Rabbi Julian Cook of Denver, CO. She is preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Harry Cook. Burial will be in Ann Arbor, MI. In keeping with her faith, charitable contributions would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
