Helen N. Ashby

Wellsburg, NY- Helen N. Ashby, Age 87 of Milan, PA (East Smithfield Township) went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, July 10, 2009 at the Bradford County Manor. West Burlington, PA. Helen was born September 30, 1921 in Sayre, PA daughter of the late Simon and Mary (Lewis) Wilk. She married William C. Ashby and together raised their family. She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church, East Smithfield, PA and enjoyed working around her home, quilting and sewing. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family especially her 31 grandchildren. Survivors include her loving husband William C. Ashby of East Smithfield, PA, sons, and daughters-in-law, Dan and Cynthia Ashby of Milan, PA, Jamie and Sara Ashby of East Smithfield, PA, Thomas Ashby of Milan, PA, a daughter and son-in-law, Billie and Donald Postlethwait of Ulster, PA, a brother, Julius Wilk of Manville, NJ, sisters, Jennie Shames of Columbia Cross Roads, PA, Violet McGuire of Seabring, FL, ten grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, many nieces, nephews and friends. Helen was predeceased by her parents, sisters, Bertha Fleming, Wanda Batcheck, Jeannie Assumpko, a brother John Wilk and grandson William Daniel Ashby. Family and friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 AM Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at the Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. 279 Main Street, Wellsburg, New York. Her funeral service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 11 AM with Pastor Kurt Brown and Pastor Nathan Blow officiating. Interment will follow in Bradford County Memorial Park, Luthers Mills, PA. Memorials are directed to the Grace Baptist Church RRr2 Box 223B, Ulster, PA 18850.
