Helen Marie Kelly

POTTSVILLE - Helen Marie (Vogelgesang) Kelly, 89. of Lancaster, formerly of Pottsville, died Tuesday afternoon at the home of her son in Lancaster, Pa. Helen was born in White Haven, Pa. May 03, 1923. Daughter of the late Frederick and Lavinia (Earnhart) Vogelgesang. She was a 1942 graduate of Pottsville Area High School. On October 17, 1945 she married Joseph J. Kelly, also of Pottsville, who preceeded her in death on August 27, 2009. They were married for 63 years. A homemaker, she also had a career working in the garment industries, finishing at the Onyx Blouse Co. in Pottsville as a Quality Control Inspector. She was a member of St. John the Baptist church in Pottsville, until her marriage and then became a member of the Church of St. Patrick until 2005 when they moved to Lancaster. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceeded in death by her 4 brothers, Harry, Maurice, John, and Leo, and her 3 sisters, Elizabeth Haley, Mary Best, and Justine Miller. She is survived by two son's, Michael J. and his wife Patricia, of Landenburg, Pa. and Terrence J. and his wife Deborah, of Lancaster, Pa; Three grandchildren, Beverly Kelly Cramer and Tara Bunteman, both of Lancaster, and Brian Kelly of Philadelphia, Pa; Three great grandchildren, Thomas Stanton of Norfolk, Va., stationed aboard the USS Harry S. Truman, Terrence J. (TJ) Palkowitz and Matthew Bunteman, both of Lancaster, Pa; Also 9 nieces and nephews, 12 great nieces and nephews, and 11 great, great nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 P.M. Friday at St. Patrick’s Church, 4th and Mahantongo Sts., Pottsville. Family and friends may call on Friday afternoon from 12:00 noon until time of Mass at the church. Interment will be held in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Hillside, Pottsville.
