Helen M. (Darone) Hershey

YORK- Helen M. (Darone) Hershey, 82, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Colonial Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Kurvin P. Hershey, Jr., who passed away on September 6, 1998. The couple had been married for 50 years. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. on Friday, April 15, 2011 at Prospect Hill Cemetery with Pastor Richard Starr officiating. A funeral cortege will meet at the Pennsylvania Ave. entrance of the cemetery at 10:45 a.m. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Hershey was born on June 25, 1928 in York, a daughter of the late Maurice P. and Annie T. (Hyde) Darone, Sr. Helen worked two years at York Hospital, ten years at Memorial Hospital and later part time for Suburban Bowl-A-Rama. She mostly enjoyed being a homemaker, wife and mother. Mrs. Hershey enjoyed going to Cape May,NJ and camping. Most importantly, she enjoyed her grand kids. Mrs. Hershey is survived by two sons, Kurvin P. Hershey III and his wife, Rose of Coudersport and Stephen K. Hershey and his wife, Janeen of York; five grandchildren, Brandon and his wife, Valerie, Danielle, Aleisha, Amanda, and Jakob; six great grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth Darone of York; and a sister, Doris Nicholas of East Berlin. She was preceded in death by two sons, Jeffery Hershey and Michael Hershey. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 924 N. Colonial Ave., York, PA 17403
