Helen M. Anglemeyer

YORK-Helen M. Bardwell Anglemeyer, 90, transitioned to heaven on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, to be with her beloved husband of 66 years, Donald K. Anglemeyer, who died September 19, 2014. A viewing will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017, from 6pm – 8pm at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc. 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York, PA for family and friends. For the past year and a half, you could see Helen's smiling face as she enjoyed activities with her new friends at Senior Commons of Powder Mill. She loved talking about her time in Washington, DC, where she lived on and off from her birth on May 21, 1926, until the mid-1940s. After graduating from the University of Maryland, Helen and her mother, Mabel Bardwell Lusk (father, Homer Bardwell died when she was 3 years old) moved to their new home in Annville, PA. During that time, Helen enjoyed working at Lebanon Valley College Conservatory of Music for Ms. Gillespie. She was blessed to have met Donald who had rented a room at her home while attending school. Not long afterwards they got married and moved to Palmyra, PA where they lived for over 60 years. Traveling was their passion having toured 7 countries in Europe, the 48 continuous states and Canada. Helen is survived by a son, Dale E. Anglemeyer and wife, Betsy of Lewes, DE; a daughter, Donna J. Allen and husband, Miles of York; two grandchildren, Richard Anglemeyer and wife, Ashleigh, and Kate McCook and husband, Rory; step grandchildren, Jennifer Holt and husband, Jeffrey, and Heidi Schetter and husband, Matthew; four great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.
