MILTON - Helen Gladys (Boyd) Parks, 95, of Milton, died on Friday, April 30, 2010 at Kramm Health Care Center, Milton. Helen was born on January 23, 1915 in Washington, DC and was the daughter of the late James A. and Ethel Regina (Johnson) Boyd. She was married to the late Frank J. Parks who preceded her in death. Helen retired in March 1983 from Laurelton Center with almost 20 years service. She had also worked a short time at American Home Foods and Penn State Migrant Program. Helen was a member of the St. Paul AME Church, Milton. She was on the executive board of Retirees of AFSCME Local 8602, served as secretary for 1951 Local of AFSCME and was a Trustee of Council 1986 of AFSCME. She was also a member of; Mayflower-Chapter 18 Order of Eastern Star, Williamsport, Nancy Wiley Wilson 1036 I.B.P.O.E., Williamsport, Christian Women's Society, AAA, Ramblers and Muns Chapter of PARSE where she had been vice president at one time. Helen is survived by one son and daughter-in-law; Carl E. and Daisy Lang of Aurora, Col., two daughters; Helen S. Williams of Milton and Frances H. Spiller of Dewart, one son-in-law; The Reverend Donald Spiller of Milton, 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren and several cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter; Phyllis Chappelle, one grandson; Douglas Spiller and three brothers; James, Richard and Robert "Witchaboo" Lang. There will be a public viewing from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at the Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service, 125 N. Front St., Milton, followed by services by the Eastern Star/Elks. There will also be a public viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, May 6, 2010 at the St. Paul AME Church, 232 Willow Street, Milton, PA 17847 where the funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. The Reverend Dr. Eric L. Brown, the presiding elder of the AME Church, Allegheny/Scranton District will officiate the service. Assisting at the service will be the Reverend Donald Spiller. Burial will follow in Lewisburg Cemetery, Lewisburg. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the St. Paul AME Church.
