WILKES-BARRE-Helen Eudora Church, 85, passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2008 in East Mountain Manor, where she had been a guest for 13 years. Born in Wilkes-Barre on December 17, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Alman Luther and Kathleen (Headecker) Roach. She was a 1941 graduate of Meyers High School. She did volunteer work for the American national Red Cross. She moved to New York City in 1945. She was a member of the Grace Congregational Church, where she belonged to the Pastors Aid Club. She worked for Lord and Taylor Department Store on Fifth Ave. for forty years, retiring in 1985. She and her husband moved to Wilmington, Delaware. She spent many hours crocheting, knitting and reading. Her husband, Howard Granville Church preceded her in death on July 2, 1990. Brothers Westly, Milton and Egar and sisters Kathleen Anderson, Maude Kusnierz and Florence Gaulden also preceded her in death. Surviving are several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township. Officiating will be The Reverend Doctor Robert M. Zanicky.
