Helen E. Bass

YORK- Helen E. Bass, 90, went to heaven on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at the Lutheran Home in York, PA. A graveside service will be held at 11AM Wednesday, July 8, 2009 in Evergreen Cemetery in Red Oak, IA. Beaver-Urich Funeral Home, Inc., Box 322 305 W. Front St., Lewisberry is in charge of arrangements. Ms. Bass was born on July 29, 1918 in Montgomery County, IA, a devoted daughter of Howard and Claire (Shearer) Bass. Helen grew up on the family farm south of Red Oak, IA. She moved to Red Oak with her mom and dad when they retired from farming. She faithfully cared for her parents the rest of their days. In 1981 Helen went to Pennsylvania to live with her sister Carole. Helen was friendly to all, maintaining a lovable, helpful demeanor, and a splendid attitude. Helen enjoyed baking cinnamon buns and fudge for family and friends. She was fond of stuffed animals and she especially loved kittens. She loved and was loved by many nieces and nephews. Ms. Bass is survived by 6 nephews, Byron Bass, Greg Weeks, Doug Weeks, Ken Weeks, Randy Weeks, and Bill Weeks; and two nieces, Janet Lantz and Susan Myers. She was preceded in death by a sister, Carole Bonsall and a brother, Gordon Bass.
