Helen D. (Shotsberger) Schenck

SPRING GROVE – Helen D. (Shotsberger) Schenck, 86, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2012 at her home. She was the wife of the late Philip E. Schenck. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Prospect Hill Cemetery. Family and friends will meet at the Pennsylvania Avenue entrance of the cemetery at 9:45 AM. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements. Helen was born June 18, 1926 in Duncannon, Perry Co. a daughter of the late George E. and Cora A. (Swartz) Shotsberger. She loved to fish and also enjoyed making stained glass and bead necklaces. Mrs. Schenck is survived by a daughter, Catherine R. Seifert of Spring Grove; two sons, G. Michael and wife Arleen Schenck of Phoenix, AZ and Frederick E. and wife Sandra Schenck of Lancaster; six grandchildren, Stehman, Philip, Jeramie, Kyle, Angie, and Darrin; seven great grandchildren; a brother, John Shotsberger of Duncannon; and a sister, Minnie Vance of York. Mrs. Schenck was preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Shotsberger; and two sisters, Lillian Howell and Lou Wilhelm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018 or to SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail N., York, PA 17406.
