YORK - Helen C. (Stein) Clark, 83, died Thursday, March 13, 2008 at Normandie Ridge. She was the wife of the late Merle A. "Moe" Clark to whom she was married for 62 years. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, March 30, 2008 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, with The Rev. George Grubb officiating. A visitation will be held from 2-3:00 PM Sunday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be private. Born November 2, 1924, in Sunbury, PA, a daughter of the late Minor W. and Jessie B. (Johnson) Stein, she was a 1942 graduate of Sunbury High School, and then continued her education at Central Pennsylvania Business School in Harrisburg. Mrs. Clark had worked at Montgomery Ward and also as a cafeteria aid at West York Junior High School. She was a Girl Scout Leader for Penn Laurel Girl Scouts and served on the camp committee for Camp Echo Trail. Mrs. Clark was a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary for Shiloh Fire Company, volunteered at both White Rose Senior Center and York County Board of Elections, and was a member of the Sunbury class of 1942 reunion group. Mrs. Clark is survived by a son, Craig A. Clark of York; a daughter, Bonnie E. and husband, Sam Thomas of Bernville; five grandchildren, Jason Craun, Trevor Clark, Stephen Thomas, Geoffrey Thomas and Jessical Newlin; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Minor "Bud" Stein of Swathmore, PA; and a sister, Henrietta Grow of Boca Raton, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shiloh Fire Company, 2190 Carlisle Road, York, PA 17408 or to the York County SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17406.
